TNPS School Band
Turramurra North Public School is proud to have both a Junior and Senior Band under the direction of their Band Master, Mr Ben Crocker. School Bands are run by and rely on the support of parents to ensure the very best outcome and enjoyment for children. A Band Committee comprising parents of both Junior and Senior Band members provides support, coordination, management and issues resolution functions.
Performing is a key component of the band experience for all band members. It helps build confidence, teamwork and musicianship. Both bands, but particularly Senior Band, have the opportunity to play at various functions and competitions including such things as the Yamaha Festival, Northern Beaches Eisteddfod, Ryde Eisteddfod, NSW School Band Festival, and at community events. Earlier in 2009, Senior Band played at the opening of the IGA, enabling children to perform in their local community in a more relaxed environment.
Junior Band is the entry level and training band for Senior Band. All students in Year 3 can join Junior Band, as can students in higher years who are learning an instrument for the first time. Junior Band also participates in the Yamaha Festival and NSW School Band Festival.
Once the students have attained the required standard (normally one year) they then audition to join the Senior Band. Attendance Every band member must attend the two practice sessions each week.

!!!!!BLOW TEST NIGHT!!!!!
TUESDAY 22 NOVEMBER
6.30pm - 7.45pm in the School Library. All students in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 who would like to join the Junior Band in 2012 are invited to attend the blow test night.
The blow test night allows children to have a turn at playing all the major instruments that make up a concert band.
This will give you a good idea of which instruments will suit your child and what instruments your child would like to request to play in the band. If you would like to join the junior band - come along and have some fun. No previous musical experience is required to join the Junior Band.
